Strength depends on direction
FDM prints are built in layers and are weakest across them, so orientation often matters more than material choice.
Heat
PLA softens at relatively low temperatures and is a poor fit for a car in the sun. PETG and ASA tolerate more.
UV and weather
Indoors most materials last well. Outdoors ASA or similar is recommended, as PLA degrades under UV and moisture over time.
Realistic expectations
3D printing suits holders, organisation and decor. For load-bearing, hot or safety-critical uses, choose another method.
