A prototype is not production ready
A prototype proves form and function. A batch also needs consistency, tolerances, durability and a realistic unit price.
Design for production
Avoid unnecessary overhangs, combine parts where possible, and consider how the part sits on the plate. Small changes can halve print time.
Unit price and volume
Setup is spread across the quantity, so unit price typically drops sharply from 1 to 25 units and less after that.
Quality and documentation
Agree up front what gets checked: dimensions, fit, surface. A simple checklist saves discussion later.
