3D-printed spare parts for the home: what is realistic

18 September 2026

Good candidates

Knobs, clips, brackets, spacers and covers without a safety function are ideal. They are small, quick to print and easy to adapt.

Poor candidates

Parts carrying heavy loads, exposed to high heat, used in electrical installations or with a safety function should not be replaced by a print without professional assessment.

From broken part to print

Measure with calipers, photograph from several angles and note where it sits. With no 3D file, we can model it from measurements and photos.

Material choice

PETG handles heat and impact better than PLA and is often the better functional choice. ASA is relevant outdoors.
